frequently asked questions
am I able to have the procedure?
this procedure is not suitable if any of the following apply:
under the age of 18
prone to keloid scarring
pregnant or breastfeeding
use of accutane within the past 12 months
active skin irritation in the brow area (pimples, rash, psoriasis, eczema, rosacea, sunburn)
current use of retin-a or retinols (must be off 7 days before and avoid for 30 days after)
diabetes (consult your doctor)
hiv, hepatitis, or other viral infections/diseases
undergoing chemotherapy (consult your doctor)
pacemaker or major heart problems
history of organ transplant
difficulty healing or frequent infections
existing brow tattoo that is too dark (please send a clear photo so we can assess if fading is sufficient)
what are some things I can prepare before my appointment?
avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours and caffeine on the day of your procedure.
refrain from advil, aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, niacin, or vitamin e for 48 hours prior (unless medically necessary). extra strength tylenol may be taken if approved by your doctor.
recent tanning can alter healed pigment results.
if you’ve had laser removal of previous brow work, additional sessions may be needed due to scar tissue.
schedule botox at least 2 weeks before or after your procedure.
avoid exercise on the day of your appointment.
please note you may feel increased sensitivity during your menstrual cycle.
no waxing, threading, or tinting for 3 days before, and avoid for at least 3 weeks after.
will I need a touch up?
a complimentary touch-up is included 4–8 weeks after your initial nano brow appointment. if you wait longer than 8 weeks, do not show, or cancel within 48 hours, a $100 fee will apply to rebook.
the first session focuses on structure, mapping, and building the foundation of your brows. the touch-up allows us to see how your skin has healed and retained pigment, and to refine symmetry, definition, or fullness. for most clients, only a minor adjustment is needed to perfect the brows, though a touch-up is especially important if you prefer a bolder, more defined look.
additional touch-ups beyond the complimentary session are available and listed under our service menu.
what can I expect after the procedure?
immediately after: brows will appear darker, and may continue to deepen over the first 48 hours.
days 3–7: small scabs may form along the brows. some clients do not scab — both are normal. 30–50% of the pigment is contained within the scabs. do not pick.
days 7–14: scabs naturally flake away. if flaking continues beyond 14 days, continue following aftercare until fully healed.
weeks 2–4: brows may look foggy or muted as new skin layers cover the pigment. this will normalize as the skin regenerates.
after 4 weeks: full healing is complete, and the true color and shape of the brows will be visible. expect to lose 20–30% of initial color and thickness as part of the natural healing process.
does it hurt?
a strong topical anesthetic (5% lidocaine) is applied before and throughout the procedure to maximize comfort. pain tolerance varies from person to person, but most clients find the process very manageable. you may take 1–2 extra strength tylenol after our consultation if you have a lower pain tolerance
how long does it last?
nano brows will gradually fade and should be refreshed every 1–2 years for maintenance. fading is natural and desired, as your skin and facial structure change over time. while semi-permanent makeup won’t completely disappear, depending on your skin and health, it may leave a soft haze of residual pigment. factors that can cause brows to fade more quickly include:
iron deficiency
sun exposure
use of exfoliants
how long do the sessions take?
we book you in for a 3 hour initial appointment, your complimentary touch up session will be 2 hours long.
